KISE Hosts Ethiopian Delegation for Special Needs Education Benchmarking

Senior Ministry of Education officials today joined the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) in receiving a delegation of Ministry of Education officials from Ethiopia, who are in the country for a five-day benchmarking mission focused on education sector

The Ethiopian delegation includes senior personnel responsible for special education and curriculum development across the nine National Regional States. Their visit underscores KISE’s growing recognition as a regional center of excellence in inclusive education.

During the visit, the delegation was welcomed by Kenyan Ministry of Education officials alongside KISE’s senior management. The engagement features the exchange of knowledge, best practices, and strategies aimed at strengthening inclusive education systems.

Ethiopia has shown strong commitment to inclusive education, with over 1,400 Inclusive Education Resource Centres currently in operation and additional centres under development. The continued collaboration between Kenya and Ethiopia reflects a shared goal of enhancing educational opportunities for learners with special needs across the region.
