Quality Education Expected after Ministry Engages Stakeholders
Cabinet Secretary for Education, Julius Migos Ogamba, Friday presided over the launch of the national education dialogues at the Machakos International Convention Center in Machakos County.
The State Department for Basic Education organised nation-wide County-Based Dialogues focusing on the quality of education and learning outcomes under the Competency Based Education (CBE).
Under the theme "strengthening stakeholder engagement for effective implementation of competency based education," the meetings will be held in all the 47 Counties from March 7th to March 13th, 2025.
The dialogues are designed to engage all stakeholders in the education sector regarding the ongoing implementation of the CBE, including the progress, achievements and opportunities arising from the rollout.
The objectives of the dialogues include updating stakeholders on the status of Competency Based Education implementation as well provide a platform for stakeholders’ participation in the validation of Transition Guidelines from Junior School to Senior School.
The dialogues will equally appraise stakeholders on teacher recruitment and capacity building while at the same time receive feedback from stakeholders on the implementation of Competency Based Education.
Present during the launch were Basic Education Principal Secretary Dr. Belio Kipsang, CEOs from KNEC, KICD, TSC among other education Stakeholders.
After the launch in Machakos at People’s Park on 7th March 2025, subsequent meetings will be held in all other counties from Monday 10th to Thursday 13th at venues as prescribed.
Monday March 10th meetings will be held in Samburu at Maralal Polytechnic, Meru at Meru School, West Pokot at Nasokol Girls, Lamu at Mokowe Arid Pry School, Marsabit Moi Girls, Trans Nzoia St. Monica Girls, Busia at Kisoko Girls, Garissa at North Eastern National Polytechnic, and Kisii at Kisii High.
Other venues for Monday meeting on the 10th March include Kwale at Kwale High, Mandera at Mandera Secondary, Migori at Migori Boys, Nyeri at Moi Nyeri Primary, Wajir at Wajir High, Nakuru at Nakuru High School, Kisumu at St. Theresas Girls Kibuye, Kilifi at Coast Development Authority while Kajiado meeting will be held at Masaai National Polytechnic closing the list of meetings scheduled for the 10th March 2025.
Meetings to be held on Tuesday 11th March 2025 will include Nyandarua at Ol Kalou Secondary, Taita Taveta at Kenyatta High-Mwatate, Vihiga at Mbihi Girls, Tharaka Nithi at Chuka Girls, Uasin Gishu at Moi Girls High School Eldoret, Kirinyanga at Kerugoya Girls, Baringo at Kabarnet Rehabilitation Centre, Homa Bay at Ogande Girls, Kericho at Kericho TTC, Kitui AT Kitui Multi-Purpose Hall, Mombasa at Aldina Vishram and Kakamega at Kakamega High.
Wednesday dialogue meetings will be held in Isiolo at Waso Secondary, Nyamira at Kebirigo High School, Muranga Mumbi Girls, Bomet at St. Mary’s Girls, Makueni at Makueni Boys, Turkana at St. Monica Lodwar Girls, Kiambu at Thika High School, Embu at Kangaru Boys’, Siaya at Township Secondary, Nandi at Kapsabet Girls, Narok at Masaai Girls, Elgeyo Marakwet at St. Patricks Iten while Bungoma closes the Wednesday dialogues at Cardinal Otunga Girls on 12th March 2025.
Laikipia county meeting will be held at Nanyuki High School on 13th March 2025, Tana River at Hola Boys with Nairobi culminating the Dialogue meetings at St Georges Primary on Thursday 13th March 2025.
