Talk on GMOs

TheState Department for Science, Research and Innovation Principal Secretary, Prof. Shaukat  Abdulrazak this afternoon attended the  National Dialogue on GMOs in Kenya, whose main theme was on Growing food and protecting the environment. Prof. Shaukat emphasised on the need to embrace biotechnology in enhancing sustainable agri-food systems. The PS also noted that for it is important to embrace changes and innovation in science and technology for development adding that Public Private Partnership was the key to ensuring growth and sustainability in Science, Technology, and Innovation.

Prof. Shaukat further encouraged Inclusive Innovation Systems through National dialogue informed by science noting that this would encourage participation of diverse stakeholders in co-creating solutions, leading to equity in access and benefits from biotech development.The PS further emphasised on the need for effective public communication to ensure that they are aware of the benefits of developing the biotech sector being the biggest stakeholders.
